Two tragic events have occurred very recently in areas of Judah and Khaw’s ministry, and he has requested fervent prayer support. Both incidents involve his family.
The first occurred last weekend when Sarah, Khaw’s sister, was hit by a motorcycle and bled to death. Sarah was the wife to Pastor Khinjong Sein in the remote Bamauk region of Myanmar. They have 5 children. After church last Sunday, a female church member asked for a home visit to have the pastor pray for her. Khinjong asked his wife Sarah to go and pray with her, since she was a single woman. While Sarah was walking there, it grew dark, and she was struck by a motorcycle and critically injured. They tried to treat her at the local clinic, but needed to transport her to the hospital in Mandalay; she died on the way. Of course her husband is devastated, and sad that he did not accompany her. Judah went to the memorial service and spoke, and said that many local unbelievers came to the service as well as local government officials. They respected this family and were shocked by the tragedy. At the service, they heard of her life and heard the Gospel proclaimed.
The next tragedy just came to our attention this morning. Judah reported that over the past week there have been unusually heavy and continuous rains in his hometown and ministry area of Putao, in northern Myanmar. This morning, his sister’s 2nd daughter was carried away in a flooded river. The child was only 1 1/2 years old and they have not been able to find her little body. It seems that the mother was washing clothes in a river near their home when the little one wandered away and got caught in the flooded river. This same flood has also wiped away the rice fields in Putao. This is tragic itself, as rice is their staple, and Putao is an isolated region.
Please lift up this ministry in prayer along with Judah and Khaw’s family, Khinjong Sein’s family and Judah’s sister’s family. There appears to be an intense spiritual battle going on in these regions and families. Please pray for protection from the enemy and for healing, strength, and peace for those whose lives have been affected. Pray that God will make good from this (His specialty), and that the Good News will flourish. Please feel free to share this information with your prayer partners.

Thank you so much for the outpouring of prayer, generosity and brotherly love for Judah, his family, and the church in Putao currently experiencing a flood disaster. Putao is Judah and Khaw’s hometown, as well as the location of one of his orphanages and partner churches. The village is remote and Judah says because of irresponsible government deforestation, Putao and villages like it experience frequent flooding during monsoon season (July – September).
Flooding causes both immediate and residual problems. Lives and homes are lost. Access to clean water is lost. Rice fields are flooded, which causes both a food shortage for the village and economic disaster. Your generous contributions will help people feed their families, take care of their sick, and rebuild their lives and homes. We will continue to update you about Judah’s ministry and outreach efforts. Natural disasters offer an opportunity for Christians to show Christ’s love to those in need. Many people became Christians as a result of Judah’s relief efforts after the 2008 cyclone disaster, when they saw the love of Christ through his people. Please pray that people may be reached in the midst of this tragedy as well.
