Mission Myanmar Flooding

Judah would like all of his supporters to know how much their prayers, gifts, and kind words mean to him. When he visits here, he feels great love from his supporters and this encourages him more than you can imagine!

Recently, Judah shared some interesting news about his country. Myanmar has experience unprecedented flooding of much of its countryside due to years of deforestation caused by the logging of teak forest as well as slash and burn techniques for farmland, and firewood. The land is now very prone to widespread flooding, and the yearly monsoon rains that they welcome, now often lead to damaging floods. These floods not only destroy rice fields, but also homes, and livestock. One devastated area is near the Jung Byaw church and orphanage, but thank the Lord, the ministry was spared any serious damage.

Judah petitioned IDES (International Disaster Emergency Service) for funds so that he could provide some relief to those in the flooded delta region near this ministry. IDES granted him the money and he is there. Judah visited the area to assess the damage a month ago, and a few photos are attached. Please pray for he, his team, and those they will be ministering to.

Other changes that Myanmar is experiencing are political and social. With the door opening to democracy in Myanmar, but with many remnants of the military junta still very evident, change is slow and sometimes painful. Judah recently shared the gospel with E——, a lady with 2 children who is married to a soldier, and they live on a military base. E——- responded positively to the good news and had a strong desire to learn more. Because of his visit and gift of a bag of rice, and her subsequent visits to attend church, rumors flew that Christians are paying her with rice to convert from Buddhism to Christianity. Some of her friends went to higher military officers and reported this. Please pray that God would protect E——- and her children from the lies being spread, and pray that she grow in knowledge and love of God.

Continue to pray for the orphans, and the staff that cares for them. These vulnerable children come to the orphanages for many different reasons. Some are victims of human trafficking, which has become widespread in Myanmar. Some have parents who are in jail, or too sick or too poor to take care of them. Some live in the jungles, some in the cities. All need help. Your support and prayers enable Judah to help them!

Please lift Joe in your prayers as he prepares to travel to Myanmar to visit Judah to assist in the training of leaders in the churches along with encouraging and teaching among the orphans and staff. He will also plans to go with Judah to visit and speak to the families in the area impacted by massive floods.

Lastly, Judah will be back her in the USA for a short visit in November, and he will be driving with a friend to attend ICOM (International Conference on Missions) in Lexington Kentucky. He will have a few days in Central Florida. Please contact us if you would be interested in having him visit your church or small group while here.
